Not marginally. Not debatably. Consistently, across studies, populations, and generations, our collective EQ has declined—steadily, deeply, alarmingly. We've become less empathetic. Less self-aware. Less able to navigate the moments that truly define a human's life.

Researchers have traced this downward curve again and again to the same source: technology.
The sharpest declines in our social and emotional capacities don't align with wars or recessions—they align with innovation. Each time we unlock a new tool, something in us grows quieter.

And now, we stand at the edge of the biggest technological leap in history.

AI isn't a product or a platform. It's a force. One that, left unchecked, could accelerate the decline of human emotional intelligence faster and farther than anything before it.

Most people building AI know this—but they don't see it as their problem to solve.
We do.

Not because we're against progress, and not because we want to "protect" people from technology—but because the real question of this era isn't what AI can do.
It's what AI does to us.

Here's the paradox we refuse to ignore:
